🪬 HumanAI #004 – I Trained an AI to Keep Me on Track (Because I Wouldn’t)
The Dawn of HumanAI
AI is inevitable. It’s happening.
Betting against evolution and progress is usually a bad decision.
So, we embrace it and use it to our advantage.
But we’ll always remember who we are—
HUMANS.
Hey!
Welcome to HumanAI, a newsletter for entrepreneurs, business owners, and decision-makers who want to think bigger, move faster, and unlock AI’s full potential—without the learning curve.

Let’s go!
This week I almost skipped sending this newsletter.
I’m moving houses.
I’ve got a toddler running around.
Boxes everywhere. Sleep nowhere.
On the bright side, we cleaned up and got rid of a ton of sh*t we had lying around.
Valid excuses? Sure.
But these are short-term excuses.
Because skipping one thing once makes it easier to skip it again.
And that’s when the slow fade begins. And you go down that slippery slope.
So this week reminded me why I built an AI habit tracker a couple of months ago:
Not for when life is smooth—but for when it gets chaotic.
And it worked. I’m here, writing this.
🧠HUMAN INSPIRATION: How Jerry Seinfeld Built an Empire with One Rule
Before AI.
Before Notion templates.
Before all the habit apps you’ve downloaded and ignored...
There was Jerry Seinfeld—and a red marker.
When Seinfeld was still a struggling comic, someone asked him:
"How do you write such consistently good material?"

Back in 2009, I was lucky enough to meet Jerry at the Cannes Festival.
His answer was surprisingly simple:
Write one joke every day. No matter what.
Then he gave the real trick:
“Get a calendar and a red marker.
Every day you write, put an X on that day.
After a few days, you’ll have a chain.
And your only job is to never break the chain.”

Your only job is simple: Don’t break the chain.
He didn’t say “write a great joke.”
He didn’t say “only on weekdays.”
He said: every day.
Because showing up consistently beats waiting for inspiration.
Just like that calendar and red marker, I built my own chain too…
But with AI.
Let’s break it down.
⚡ AI REAL-LIFE USE: How I Built a Personalized Habit Tracker in ChatGPT
Most habit apps are nice in theory.
But they don’t keep you accountable.
So I built something better.
This isn’t a fancy app or wearable.
It’s just me + ChatGPT’s Tasks feature.
I built a system that:
âś… Checks in with me daily
âś… Records what I did
âś… Tracks progress
âś… Calls me out when I slack
It’s like having a robot coach that doesn’t let me off the hook.
The Problem:
I wanted to consistently do:
Morning stretches
Training sessions
Take creatine
But I kept falling off, forgetting, or justifying my way out of it.
The Solution:
I built a custom AI habit tracker using ChatGPT’s Tasks feature.
Now it:
Sends me a reminder at 8am to do my morning stretches and training
Checks in at 11am to ask if I actually did them
Logs my daily results into a table
Tracks my creatine intake
Sends motivational reminders when I fall off
Here’s exactly how I did it (and how you can do it too):
🔹 Step 1: Create the AI Habit Tracker Task
“You are my AI training coach. Every day, remind me at 8 AM to do my morning stretches and training. Check in at 11 AM to confirm. Track each day in a table. Also ask if I took my creatine. Use ✅ and ❌ for results.”
Now it runs automatically, every day. No setup. No excuses.
🔹 Step 2: Track Progress Visually
The AI logs every response in a table like this:
Date | Stretches | Training | Creatine |
---|---|---|---|
Jan 27 | âś… | âś… | âś… |
Jan 28 | âś… | âś… | âś… |
Jan 29 | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ |
Jan 30 | âś… | âś… | âś… |
Jan 31 | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ |
Feb 1 | ❌ | ✅ | ❌ |
Feb 2 | ❌ | ✅ | ❌ |
Feb 3 | ❌ | ✅ | ✅ |
Feb 4 | âś… | âś… | âś… |
This is my Seinfeld red Xs—but smarter.
It shows when I’m slipping and how to adjust.
🔹 Step 3: Make the AI Coach Adapt
The AI even adjusted how it tracks me.
When I missed a stretch but still trained, I told it to track each habit independently.
Now I get streaks that separate performance from perfection.
Later, I asked it to include creatine tracking.
Boom. New column. No reset required.
ChatGPT tracks everything without shaming me but also without letting me off the hook.
Exactly what I need.
It’s not a productivity tool.
It’s a consistency system.

Some of the tasks my AI assistants are helping me with.
🔹 BONUS: Use AI to Spot Patterns & Adjust
Once the system stuck, I wanted to learn more about my habits and how to keep on improving them. So I asked my AI assistant:
“Update my task to include weekly summaries. At the end of each week, tell me how many days I trained, what types of training I did, and whether I hit my consistency goal.”
Now my AI gives me a full weekly performance review.
It gives me an honest snapshot.
Not just data, but direction.
That’s what makes it work.
It’s not just a log—it’s feedback.
THAT IS THE BEST PART: the ChatGPT App sends me a notification to my phone to remind me to perform and to track my progress. I just need to text back or even just reply with a Voice Note.
Too easy.

This is a screenshot from my phone today.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
I’m opening two 1-on-1 coaching spots for the next month.

🚀 FOR THE BOLD ONES…
This Is How HumanAI Starts
It doesn’t start with flying cars.
Or robot CEOs.
Or a virtual version of you giving a TED Talk in 19 languages.
It starts with a reminder.
A nudge.
A line of text at 8am saying: “Did you show up today?”
This is where HumanAI really begins—
Not when AI replaces you, but when it challenges you.
Every time it asks if you trained,
if you stretched,
if you meditated today...
It’s not tracking a habit— It’s helping you create the best version of yourself.

Prompt for DALL·E 2: Get inspired by this text and create an image: “It doesn’t start with flying cars. Or robot CEOs. Or a virtual version of you giving a TED Talk in 19 languages. It starts with a reminder. A nudge. A line of text at 8am saying: “Did you show up today?””
Because the real shift isn’t tech.
It’s internal.
It’s invisible.
It’s who you become when you design a system that doesn’t let you slip through your own excuses.
Because when life gets messy (and it always does)…
Motivation dies. Systems don’t.
It’s not AI doing the work for you.
It’s AI making it impossible not to become the version of you who does the work anyway.
And today you can build that system in 5 minutes.
This isn’t just a tracker.
It’s a transformation protocol.
Welcome to HumanAI.
Final Thoughts
I didn’t build this tracker because I’m ultra-disciplined.
I built it because I know I’m not.
And that’s the magic of HumanAI—
It gives you just enough structure to keep moving,
just enough friction to stop slipping,
and just enough feedback to evolve.
This wasn’t about training.
It was about building a system that makes quitting feel weird.
That’s what we’re doing here—
Not just playing with AI.
Building systems to make your life better.
So, what’s the habit you keep “meaning to start”?
Stretching? Writing? Reading? Meditating?
You’ve got a personal AI right in front of you.
Use it.
See you next week (unless I break the streak).
But I won’t.
Stay active, stay sharp.

P.S. This email was written by Human Mencho with the help of AI. Kinda cool if you think about it.
P.S.S. Love all the messages I’m receiving of support and questions!! MANY THANKS!!
Before you go…
For years, I’ve been having mind-blowing conversations with Gus Balbontin. Every time we talked, I kept thinking, "More people need to hear this."
So I pushed him. Hard.
First, we launched his newsletter (over 6000 people receive it weekly!).
Then came our first Career Rebellion workshop.
And every step of the way, the same thing happened—people kept asking for more. More tools, more guidance, more community.
So we built it. Life Shake Up.
The program I wished existed. The one I needed.
A space for people like us—people who refuse to live on autopilot, who want to shake things up, challenge the norm, and actually design a life that excites them.
If this resonates, come join us.
